Nancy E. Gianakos

Ms. Gianakos graduated magna cum laude from the University of Hartford, and received her law degree from Western New England College School of Law, Springfield, MA. She was admitted to the Connecticut State Bar in 1981, New Jersey State Bar in 1992 and New York State Bar in 1993 and to the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of New York and District of Connecticut.

Ms. Gianakos has a diverse legal background. As counsel for the City Attorney’s Office, Middletown, CT, she worked exclusively in resolution of environmental issues with local and state agencies and for the maritime firm of Chalos & Brown in the representation of Captain Hazelwood in the Exxon-Valdez case. She has acted as counsel to a private investment fund, a Long Island real estate company and to a Connecticut insurance firm.

Ms. Gianakos now concentrates in family and matrimonial matters and litigates on Long Island in the New York metropolitan area. She is a member of the Family Law Committee of the New York State Bar Association, the Matrimonial Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association, the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association, the American Family Law Inns of Court, the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals and serves as the matrimonial focus editor of the Nassau Lawyer.
